A series of free workshops will be held this month at community halls in the north-west, including Garah and Gurley, to share the latest tips and tools for smarter summer cropping.
Delivered as part of the Grains Research and Development Corporation’s RiskWi$e program, sessions will be held at Garah, Gurley and Spring Ridge this month to provide advice from experts at AMPS Agribusiness, CSIRO, Poole Ag and Pinnacle Agriculture.
With all grain growers, planting contractors and advisers welcome to attend, AMPS’ head of research, Matt Gardner, said each session had been designed with local growing conditions in mind and was well worth making the trip to attend.
“If you’re looking for boots-on-the-ground advice on opportunities, risks and rotation decisions around summer cropping, then these sessions are a great place to start,” Mr Gardner said.
“We’ll dive deep into grower case studies, sharing practical tips to aid decisions around crop selection, rotation, and intensity based on what’s been working in your local area.
“Fallow and soil management as well as strategies to deal with unfavourable seasons are also all on the agenda, so you can walk away with more information to maximise returns on farm into the future.”
Complimentary catering will be provided for each of the sessions, which will be held on:
Schedule
Tuesday, March 17 from 2pm-5.30pm at Garah Community Hall;
Wednesday, March 18 from 9am-12.30pm at Gurley Soldier Settlers Hall; and
Thursday, March, 19 from 9am-12.30pm at Spring Ridge Country Club.
