Moree workshop for farm future-proofing

THE state’s peak agriculture body, NSW Farmers, is launching a series of free workshop for farmers looking to build resilience and forward-planning within their businesses, with the first workshop scheduled for Moree on February 11.

The Moree workshop will be held between 6pm and 8.30pm at Moree Services Club.

Funded by the NSW Farm Business Resilience Program and presented by experienced local counsellors from the Rural Financial Counselling Service, the workshops will be hosted at up to 20 locations across New South Wales and will provide attendees with skills to develop farm business plans.

NSW Farmers’ projects manager, Georgia Campbell said all were welcome to attend the workshops, which come on the back of the successful Bank Ready workshops.

“Whether you haven’t had the means to create a farm business plan before or you’re a young farmer just starting out in the industry, these workshops are a great place to get the foundations you need to plan effectively for the future,” Ms Campbell said.

“These sessions will be short and sharp, but rest assured they will cover all the key elements you need to include in your business plan to ensure it is a useful tool for years to come.”

With the first workshop in the series to be hosted in Moree on February 11, Ms Campbell urges interested farmers to take the plunge on business planning and sign up to attend a workshop near them.

“Having a clear, documented business plan is increasingly essential to the day-to-day management of farm businesses, and that includes securing bank loans or other finance,” Ms Campbell said.

“Farmers getting their heads around the basics will be well worth their while, and we can’t wait to see everyone there.”

Farmers can register for an event by visiting Business Plan Ready Registration.

The workshops are for all producers looking to commence or reinvigorate their farm business planning journey, from all commodities and experiences and is supported by the Farm Business Resilience Program, through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
