Work experience opportunity for ag students closing soon

ASPIRING agricultural professionals have until this Sunday, August 31, to apply for a fully-funded agricultural work placement within the Gwydir Valley.

The Young Aggies Moree Rural Scholarship provides a $2000 bursary to help university students currently studying agriculture to explore a wide range of professional opportunities in Moree’s agricultural sector over a two-week period.

Funded by Young Aggies Moree, a volunteer-led committee that aims to attract and retain young agricultural talent in the Moree area, the scholarship fund is designed to support tertiary agriculture students as they develop industry contacts and gain practical experience in their chosen field.

Young Aggies Moree committee member, Camilla Parry, said the scholarship not only helps university students kick start their careers, but encourages young talent to consider the Moree area as they move into the workforce.

“Work experience enables students to enhance their understanding of how agricultural businesses operate, and more importantly, identify where their passions lie within the sector,” Ms Parry said.

“It’s a really valuable first step when embarking on a new career.”

Students can apply for the Young Aggies Moree Rural Scholarship by visiting Young Aggies Moree.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in an agricultural or related field at university or an equivalent tertiary institution and complete two weeks of work experience in the Gwydir Valley within twelve months of being awarded the scholarship.

Successful applicants will also be required to provide a single page report or three-minute video about their experience at the conclusion of work placements.
