CUC North West celebrates a community milestone

THE Country Universities Centre North West has reached an inspiring milestone by supporting 700 students from the north-west to access, succeed, and complete higher education while staying connected to the region they call home.

The milestone is more than a number says Letitia Cross, chair of CUC North West.

“Every one of these 700 students represent a story of aspiration, determination, and the power of community support,” Mrs Cross said.

“Their success is not only their own – it strengthens our local industries, builds our workforce and shapes a more vibrant future for the north-west.”

The CUC North West says when local potential is nurtured, the whole region thrives.

By removing barriers like cost, distance and isolation, all while connecting students to local career pathways, CUC North West make higher education more accessible and more meaningful for the region.

Blending real-world experience with formal study, CUC North West ensures students are job-ready, confident, well-connected and wanting to work regionally.

From skill development, academic guidance and mentoring, to work placements and industry connections, the centre offers the framework students need to thrive.

“This creates a ripple effect which reaches far beyond the classroom,” Mrs Cross said.

“It drives sustainable economic growth and resilience by growing our own workforce in the region where we need it.”

But the story doesn’t end here, says Mrs Cross – the milestone is just a beginning.

CUC NW invites the community to keep building the momentum by spreading the word, encouraging aspiring students, partnering with CUC North West and helping create even more opportunities in the region.

“Empowering local minds and building regional futures together isn’t just a tagline – it’s the work CUC North West is doing in partnership with our community every day,” Mrs Cross said.
