JELLICOE Park will come alive today with vibrant colours and community spirit as Healthy Harold makes his long-awaited return to Moree.
The lovable character will be at Jellicoe Park from 3.30pm until 5pm as Healthy Harold’s Colour Run returns for its second year, launching the 2025 Healthy Harold Moree Festival of Health.
Running from June 28 to August 8, the festival brings the Moree community together to promote positive health outcomes, mental wellbeing, and inclusive engagement through a range of exciting activities including the Colour Run, nutritious breakfast mornings, and a wellbeing webinar for educators.
The festival inspires learning, encourages healthy habits, and strengthens community connections.
Hundreds of participants of all ages will walk, run and dance through clouds of colourful chalk powder, while exploring interactive booths hosted by local organisations.
The booths will provide valuable resources and spark important conversations about health, safety and wellbeing.
Hosted by Life Ed NSW, the festival is made possible thanks to the generous support of Moree Plains Shire Council, Hunter New England Local Health District, Headspace Tamworth, Moree Family Support, Centacare Moree, PCYC Moree, Miyay Birray Youth Service, Australian Bananas, and Waratah Education Foundation.
Healthy Harold, Life Ed’s beloved giraffe mascot, will be a crowd favourite, with families and friends capturing countless selfies throughout the afternoon.
CEO of Life Ed NSW Jonathon Peatfield said a complimentary barbeque, generously supported by Woolworths Moree and served by Moree Lions Club, will ensure everyone can refuel after their colourful adventure.
“The Colour Run is a cornerstone event within Healthy Harold’s Moree Festival of Health, uniting local schools, families, health services, and community organisations in a collaborative effort to boost engagement and share vital health and safety messages that matter to Moree,” Mr Peatfield said.
This year’s festival will reach more than 1000 students across 10 schools and early learning centres in Moree and the surrounding region.
Life Ed’s specialist educators will deliver engaging lessons on important topics such as nutrition, cyber safety, respectful relationships, and making positive choices about drugs, alcohol and vaping.
To help ensure the regional kids have the healthiest start to their day, and learn about the types of nutrition that will best fuel them to learn and play, Sanitarium Health Food Company is generously providing a Weet-Bix breakfast for the students.
Sanitarium head of marketing and communications Jessica Manihera said a great day of learning starts with a great breakfast.
“That’s why Team Sanitarium is proud to support the Moree Festival of Health and provide more than 1700 serves of wholesome breakfast favourites,” Ms Manihera said.
”By fuelling children with nourishing choices, we’re helping set them up for success – in the classroom and beyond,” she said.
