Moree Public School long lunch tickets online, sponsors sought

TICKETS are available for Moree Public School’s 2025 Supporting the Now, Paving the Future Long Lunch, and the groundswell of support for the innovative fundraiser has overwhelmed organisers.

The long lunch, an initiative of Moree Public School P&C Association, will be served on Saturday, March 1 – traditionally the first day of autumn –  at Moree racecourse on Boggabilla Road.

School P&C Association president Casey O’Hara said funds raised at the event will support vital school resources and facilities, and programs used to enrich the educational experiences of students.

“These pave the way for students to succeed and thrive, and reach their full protentional,” Mrs O’Hara said.

“Part of our mission is to work in partnership with the principal and the community to promote the interests of the school by bringing all key stakeholders into close partnerships.”

Mrs O’Hara said money raised at the long lunch will support key areas, including inclusive playground upgrades, excursions and sporting team travel, school support programs, and proposed kitchen facilities in the school auditorium.

“The entire profit from the long lunch will be used to directly support current and future students of Moree Public School,” Mrs O’Hara said.

“Supporting the event means the continued success of Moree Public School and the educational journey of our children – the leaders of the future – and we know our staff are committed to showcasing quality education,” Mrs O’Hara said.

Moree Public School principal Lindy Hosegood said students and staff are fortunate to have the support of a dynamic and proactive P&C.

“They truly understand the importance of parents in their children’s education and are eager to support our school in working together to ensure students achieve their potential through public education,” Mrs Hosegood said.

“Practical support through P&C working bees assist the school to carry on the legacy of the previous principal, Mr Ken Cattanach, the school’s longest-serving principal, whose vision was to make the school playgrounds welcoming, with beautiful lawns, gardens and play areas.

“The P&C has had great leadership and committees over the years and the baton is now passed to Mrs O’Hara and her team,” Mrs Hosegood said.

“We appreciate their generous support and dedication, and look forward to the 2025 long lunch as a fun way to connect with past and present, and especially further strengthen our dynamic school community.

“This is truly a wonderful event for Moree,” she said.
