Pallamallawa Public School fundraisers to install new playground equipment

THERE are 13 families with 21 children – and between them, they’re on the hunt for $28,000.

Staff, families, students and supporters of Pallamallawa Public School have been brainstorming ideas to raise enough capital to install new playground equipment at the school.

It’s a fundraiser done the old-fashioned way, where everyone in the village chips in and helps out in some way.

Pallamallawa Public School P&C Association will host two big events in August as part of its fundraising drive.

Tickets are now available for Drag Queen Trivia Night – hosted by Timberlina – at the Pally Hall on Friday August 8, with a return bus from Moree available.

Timberlina, a fabulously funny and larger-than-life entertainer from the Newcastle region, is set to have the audience in stitches.

Her over-the-top style and naughty quick wit will have the Pally Hall shaking all night – just like she did two years ago.

An on-site bar will operate, with scrumptious food provided by SMO-King BBQ, specialising in American-style low-and-slow barbeque dining.

Tickets are $100 per person, which includes a barbecue dining experience and available here: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1425948

A return bus from Moree will also be available at $20 per person, with booking available by messaging the P&C at Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pallypc2020.

On Saturday, August 30, the Pally P&C Camp Oven Cook-Off will be held, with the call-out now on for camp oven enthusiasts and culinary wizards to sign up and start cooking.

To participate, contact Trish Fox on 0428 539620.

Pally P&C secretary Ann-Marie Faint said the fundraisers were community-led events with incredible support from local businesses.

“We have had some businesses jump in and donate to us already, including Johnstone’s Concrete and Stahmann Farms have sponsored our events, and Pringy’s Farm and Grainland have donated items for us to raffle at our Drag Queen Trivia night,” she said.

“We are a small school of 13 families, with 21 children, and our committee is also only small.

“Our committee supports local business with all our purchases being made locally, and we hire the local Pally Hall for all our events,” she said.

“There will be a bus from Moree to Pally and back for the drag queen event on August 8, and our camp oven cook-off will be held at the end of August.

“Folks can enter the cooking comp, and we’ll have a judge to taste, test and decide the winner,” she said.

Afterwards, the Pally School P&C will host a dinner and serve all the food cooked in the competition.
