St Philomena’s School Moree entering new era after significant expansion

TENDERS are being called for the cleaning contract at St Philomena’s Catholic School in Moree, a co-educational central school with a population of 360 students and 65 staff members.

The school has undergone significant expansion in recent years, including new learning spaces and a new administration area.

St Philomena’s school principal, Alistair Stewart, said 2026 offered new spaces and new opportunities for staff and students.

“St Philomena’s is entering an exciting new chapter,” Mr Stewart said.

“This year, our commitment to student well-being was matched by a significant transformation of our physical environment.

“Late in 2025, we were thrilled to unveil our major campus upgrades, including state-of-the-art new learning spaces and a vibrant new administration area,” he said.

Mr Stewart said with new spaces comes a renewed commitment to stewardship, and tenders are now invited for the three-year cleaning contract at the school.

St Philomena’s is a well-maintained school with excellent facilities and learning spaces, including classrooms, science laboratory, industrial technology rooms, visual arts and music rooms, large learning centre library and hall.

“As part of the Armidale Catholic Schools system, we understand our environment plays a crucial role in learning,” Mr Stewart said.

“To ensure these new facilities are maintained to the highest standard, we are currently inviting tenders for our three-year cleaning contract, commencing in 2026.

“We are looking for partners who will take pride in our school, helping us create a sparkling, welcoming atmosphere where students can thrive every day,” he said.

Campus upgrades – educational and administrative – in recent years have truly transformed St Philomena’s Catholic School.

“These new facilities are designed to be more than just classrooms,” Mr Stewart said.

“They are modern, collaborative environments that inspire a deep sense of purpose and possibility in our young people.”

Mr Stewart invites families in the Moree region to consider St Philomena’s Catholic School for 2026.

“There has never been a better time to join us. Our new buildings are ready, but it is our community spirit that truly sets us apart,” he said.

”We offer a holistic education where your child will be known by name, supported by a system that holds a universal and unconditional positive regard for every young person.

“We invite interested service providers to contact the school regarding the cleaning tender, and we warmly encourage new families to tour our new facilities.

“Our mission has always been to ensure every student feels safe, valued, cared for and respected – principles that form the heartbeat of our Living Well, Learning Well framework,” Mr Stewart said.

School finance and administration officer Maree Lovett said the cleaning contract will be for a three-year term.

“The successful tenderer will be required to commence on March 2, 2026,” Mrs Lovett said.

The successful contractor will provide at its own cost and expense all labour, cleaning materials, plant and equipment necessary for the completion of the cleaning requirements and must provide current Working With Children checks for all staff members.

“During the school term, access to the school for cleaning purposes will be available between the hours of 3.15pm and 8.30am,” Mrs Lovett said.

Extra cleaning schedules during school holidays will also apply.

Inspection of the site and facilities can be arranged on Wednesday, February 4 by contacting the school office by phone on 0267 521577 or emailing moradmin@arm.catholic.edu.au.

The cleaning contract will be for a term of three years, with the successful tenderer required to commence on March 2, 2026.
