Australia’s national policing agency, the Australian Federal Police, has launched a story-driven brand recruitment campaign encouraging people from all walks of life to pursue a career in law enforcement through a focus on Everyday People, Legendary Work.
The campaign, which was more than a year in the making, is designed to educate the community about the AFP’s role, responsibilities and opportunities.
Commissioner Reece Kershaw said it served as both a call to action for potential recruits and a tribute to the members who already worked for the AFP.
“Across the AFP we offer more than 200 different roles across more than 40 career paths and myriad locations, from detectives to dog handlers, and from Parliament House and Pine Gap through to the Pacific,” Commissioner Kershaw said.
“We’re an employer with extraordinary diversity of opportunity, where no two roles, days or operations are the same. This allows for a workforce drawn from all walks of life.
“Diversity of thought and experience supports the AFP to innovate and outsmart serious and organised crime in an environment where crime has no borders,” he said.

“In terms of location, we offer opportunities in capital cities, some of Australia’s most remote locations, local neighbourhoods and overseas postings,” Mr Kershaw said.
“There are ACT Policing community policing roles with high visibility, on-the-move protection jobs that safeguard critical infrastructure and high officeholders, teams that investigate Commonwealth crimes, those working covertly, and specialist and support roles that find their home in a lab or behind a desk.
“We also work closely with domestic law enforcement agencies and international partners to combat crime at its source.”
