Christmas 2024: Book your Maslina dining experience now

MOREE’s first choice for dining in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere – Maslina Bar and Grill – is now taking bookings for the festive season.

Whether it’s a staff Christmas party or romantic dinner for two, owners Mick and Zelch Cikota and their incredible staff – led by head chef, Matt Ross – have the festive backdrop and menu to suit all tastes at their finely-appointed Warialda Street premises.

Maslina, meaning ‘olive’ in the Serbian language, was established in 2018 as an extension to the Cikota family-owned Econolodge Motel on Gosport Street.

“We’ve been at the motel for more than 20 years and along the way we purchased the Lodge Motel next door and combined the two – that’s when we came up with the idea to establish Maslina,” Mick said.

“We wanted the people of Moree, our motel guests and the many tourists and travellers who visit our town, to enjoy dining as a wonderful, unforgettable experience.”

And that’s exactly what head chef Matt Ross strives for when he steps into Maslina’s ultra-modern kitchen each day.

Matt’s menu, with gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan or dairy-free options available, is extensive and varied, with plans in place to offer new dishes in time for Christmas.

Tapas, breads and sharing platters start the journey, followed by an appetising range of generous mains.

From the grill, Matt’s flame-grilled 750-gram rib-eye on the bone with a choice of sides and sauces is more than a meal – it’s an experience.

All meals come with sides and sauce options, and diners can wind down the journey with a diverse and delicious dessert menu.

The motel, part of the Choice Hotels group, and Maslina restaurant employs 14 staff all-year round.

“Making sure our customers are happy and enjoying their stay with us is important, not only in our business but in any business. We always try to exceed the customers’ expectations,” Mick said.

“We refuse to compromise on quality in our restaurant and that’s why we source our fresh ingredients from local producers where possible.”

Mick said now is the time to start planning Christmas parties at Maslina Bar and Grill.

“In the hospitality game, it’s wise to promote your business all year round, and we are getting very close to Christmas and a record harvest is over,” he said.

“This time of year means we are extra-busy, so if people haven’t booked in their Christmas parties yet, I suggest they do so now to make sure desired dates are available.

“And, as silly as it sounds, Valentine’s Day is not that far away, and we have plenty of tables for two waiting,” Mick grinned.
