Santa001

WITH Christmas Day less than a week away, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued its seven-day forecast.

Australians can start preparing for the festive season with the likely weather in mind.

In Moree, a bright sunny day with a top of 35 degrees is forecast for December 25.

Boxing Day will be pretty much of the same thing.

For those travelling out of the region, a high pressure ridge will bring settled and generally dry weather to south-east Australia, with the possibility of a morning shower or two across the east coast of New South Wales and morning showers around the west and south coasts of Tasmania.

Onshore winds will bring isolated showers to the east coast of Queensland, but less likely in the south-east of the state. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the north, likely scattered around the far northern Peninsula.

Mild conditions are likely for the west and south coast of Western Australia, with showers developing about the south-west during the afternoon and evening. South Australia can expect dry and hot conditions.

Showers and storms will continue for far northern Australia, including the Northern Territory, northern Queensland, and northern Western Australia, however no heavy falls are expected at this stage.

It is important to note that the forecast may change as it gets closer to the day.
