Comfort Inn Moree: new branding, new blood

AFTER significant upgrades and refurbishment, Econo Lodge Moree Spa Motor Inn has been rebranded Comfort Inn Moree – and the tradition of offering tourists and travellers all the comforts of home proudly continues.

Comfort Inn Moree recently earned a prestigious Gold Award when named one of Choice Hotels Asia-Pac’s top-performing properties for 2024

The Choice Awards recognise exceptional performance and dedication to guest experience across more than 150 properties in Australia and New Zealand, and Comfort Inn Moree owners Mick and Zelch Cikota felt the time was right to rebrand the 43-room complex.

And with new branding comes a major new appointment, with Mick and Zelch’s son, George, stepping into a management role.

“We felt it was time to go the next brand level offered by the Choice Hotels group, and also the perfect time for George to take up the role of general manager,” Mick said.

“We’ve been with Choice Hotels for 13 years and we’ve learned a lot, and I believe we still have a lot to learn.

“We truly loved the Econo Lodge brand, but after all the renovations and remodelling, we decided to move to the next brand.

“We believe the Comfort Inn brand has more market exposure – even the name sounds comforting,” Mick smiled.

“And now that we have our son, George on board as Comfort Inn Moree’s new manager, we’re confident a fresh set of eyes will bring new ideas to the table.”

For George, stepping into management shoes is a natural progression.

Now 25, he’s been helping his parents run the motel for about 15 years.

“I’ve been working with mum and dad, and helping in the office, since I was about 10,” George said.

“I was always watching and learning. As I got older, I went away and did my own thing for a little while and last year, I decided to come back and slowly take over the reins.”

Comfort Inn Moree is crowned by Maslina Bar & Grill, Moree’s premium choice for motel guests, travellers, tourists and locals.

The restaurant was established seven years ago and offers a wide-ranging menu in relaxed surroundings.

Comfort Inn Moree features relaxing and spacious guest rooms close to Moree’s spa baths complex and retail outlets.

Moree’s main shopping precinct is a 10-minute walk – taking in picturesque Jellicoe Park – and Moree Railway Station is 200 metres away.

Moree Regional Airport is a five-minute drive, with a complimentary airport shuttle service available by prior arrangement.

All Comfort Inn Moree rooms have undergone extensive renovations and the restaurant, damaged by fire in 2022, is a popular dining and meeting spot.

Accommodation options include twin, queen, king, suites and self-contained apartments, with free WiFi, Chromecast capabilities, split-system air-conditioning as well as tea and coffee making facilities.

New manager, George Cikota, said Comfort Inn Moree, with entrances off Gosport and Warialda Streets, also offers room service and disability access.

“There is also an on-site laundry for guests to use and free outdoor car and bus parking bays for visitors,” George said.

There is a sparkling outdoor saltwater pool – perfect during summer months – and barbeque and outdoor dining facilities.

Comfort Inn Moree is part of Choice Hotels Asia-Pac, one of the largest International hotel chains.

Choice branded properties provide business and leisure travellers with a range of high-quality, high-value accommodation options throughout Australia, New Zealand and internationally.

“We’re proud to be a part of the Choice group and Comfort Inn Moree is central to everything Moree has to offer visitors and tourists alike,” George said.
