Community forum in Moree to help shape local health services

RESIDENTS in Moree are invited to help shape the future of health care in the local community at an informal, yet important forum this month.

The August 13 forum, at Social Co House, will be hosted by Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network.

PHN executive manager of people, finance and operations, Darren Crouch, said the informal drop-in event is open to all community members.

“We’re visiting Moree to gain a deeper understanding of the region’s specific health needs,” Mr Crouch said.

“This supports our health planning and service delivery and ensures the care we help provide meets real, identified needs.”

The forum is part of PHN’s ongoing commitment to listen, learn and plan for better health outcomes across the Hunter, New England and Central Coast regions.

“Our consultation with community includes surveys, webinars and community visits,” Mr Crouch said.

“This supports our health planning and service delivery in our region – Hunter, New England and Central Coast.

“Our health planning team will be asking what’s working, what needs improving, and how we can better fill service gaps.

“The PHN has a focus on equity to access so we work to ensure that people can access primary healthcare regardless of who they are or where they live,” he said.

The PHN is a not-for-profit organisation funded by the Australian Government to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the primary health care system.

PHN uses community input, expert consultation, research, and health data to better understand the needs of each local area.

The Moree forum will feed into a broader needs assessment – the foundational step in planning and delivering health services across the region.

The process not only helps determine which services are required, but also looks at factors that influence local health and wellbeing.

“By attending the upcoming forum, community members can play an active role in shaping the services that directly affect their health and the health of their loved ones,” Mr Crouch said.
