Digital Makerspace Discovery Program launches at Armidale Regional Libraries

ARMIDALE Regional Libraries is inviting people to explore the technology available at its Digital Makerspace and discover how they might use it to expand their creativity and learning.

Library team leader, Liz Thomas, said the Makerspace Discovery Program will showcase tools and technology over four weeks – tools that support innovation, learning, and artistic expression.

“The Digital Makerspace is available for anyone in our community to use,” Ms Thomas said.

“There is no cost to Library members, and membership is free. Anyone who has been curious to find out more about the Makerspace, or have a little guidance to try the technology, is invited to register for the Makerspace Discovery Program.”

The program is open to anyone aged 14 and over, including students, educators, visual artists, musicians, podcasters, or anyone with an interested to find out more.

“The Makerspace is for everyone in our community,” Ms Thomas said.

“If you’ve ever wanted to try out creative technologies but didn’t know where to start, the Discovery Program is the perfect opportunity to learn, experiment, and connect with others.

“No experience is necessary – just bring your ideas and enthusiasm,” she smiled.

The Makerspace Discovery Program, beginning on Thursday, September 18, includes:

Week 1: Stop motion animation

Week 2: Podcasting basics

Week 3: Short film production

Week 4: Intro to 3D animation

Participants will have the chance to explore a range of digital tools and resources, with guidance available to help them get started.

The program aims to raise awareness of the Makerspace, encourage community participation, and promote the library as a centre for innovation and lifelong learning. Bookings are essential, and can be made in person at the library or by phone on 6770 3636. For more information, visit the libraries page on Armidale Regional Council’s Website.
