Free pet vet checks and vax available in Moree September 27

FREE veterinary services will be available in Moree on Friday, September 27, co-ordinated by Animal Welfare League NSW and funder by the NSW Government.

Free animal health checks, free micro-chipping, and free C3 vaccinations for dogs and cats will be available.

The mobile clinic will set up on the Warialda Street side of Jellicoe Park on Friday, September 27 between 8am and midday.

Cats must be in carriers and dogs must be on leads.

Mobile devices are needed for sign-in purposes.

Pet-owners planning to use the service need to be prepared for possible long waiting times.

Jenny Smith, who voluntarily runs the Moree branch of Animal Welfare League NSW, will be on-hand to help co-ordinate the morning.

The success of the Animal Care Truck has been remarkable since its introduction early last year.

The team has delivered essential veterinary care across New South Wales and reached 26 communities in 2023.

The mobile unit is an Australian-first, fully-fitted out B-double trailer which has been purposefully designed to enable AWL NSW to travel to regional areas in NSW to provide free services to communities doing it tough.

Animal Welfare League NSW chief executive officer Stephen Albin said last year staff worked tirelessly in sometimes challenging conditions.

“They have truly performed a commendable community service and the widespread turn-out across the state underscores the undeniable demand for this essential service,” Mr Albin said.

“We are fortunate to have a truck which truly is unique and capable of rolling into town and helping pet owners.”

Animal Welfare League NSW is dedicated to the protection and welfare of animals and strives to provide a safe and loving environment for abandoned, neglected and surrendered animals.

The league’s goal is to find permanent, happy homes for these animals.

The organisation, established in 1958, strives to provide a safe and loving environment for abandoned, neglected and surrendered animals.

Services include adoption, veterinary care, welfare inspections and community programs.

The mobile clinic will also be at the Lightning Ridge racecourse on Saturday, September 28, between 8am and midday.
