Happy first birthday Moree Online News!

THE Moree Online News website turns one today, and what a ride it’s been – thanks to thousands of readers and our loyal advertisers who came on board not really knowing what to expect.

Twelve months ago, the social media version of Moree Online News ventured into uncharted territory.

Our Facebook pages have been around for quite a few years, and the step up to a dedicated website covering news from across the Moree district and wider areas seemed a natural progression – and we have our advertisers to thank for making it all possible.

Their valued support means reading Moree Online News is free.

There are no paywalls or subscription fees, meaning access to your daily local news is seamless – and free.

In the past 12 months, Moree Online News has published 1712 stories, or an average of nearly five stories a day.

During that time, there has been nearly 1.25 million page views across 550,000 sessions. This means our readers are coming back, time and time again.

Each month is getting busier, too.

For the 21 days so far this month, there has been more than 40,000 page views across 32,000 sessions.

Bill and Cindy Poulos launched the Moree Online News website on August 22, 2024.

Our social media presence is growing as well, with nearly 25,000 members and followers across our Facebook and Instagram platforms.

There is also the option of putting Moree Online News straight to the phone’s home screen by using the QR code below and tapping “add to home screen” when the options menu pops up.

It’s as simple as that, and perfect for readers who don’t visit social media regularly.

Readers are averaging nearly 14 minutes per session on our website – and they’re from all over the world.

Of course, most are from across the north-west and New England regions of New South Wales and south-eastern Queensland, but we have plenty from all corners of Australia and across the globe, particularly the United States and Europe.

Thank-you to all those readers who regularly check in to read the latest news, and thank-you to our advertisers who signed up 12 months ago, not really knowing what to expect.

Quite simply, if it wasn’t for their unwavering support, we wouldn’t be here.

We also have a few new plans and ideas developing as we enter our second year, so watch this space.

Happy birthday, Moree Online News!
