A regional ceramic exhibition and activities showcasing creativity, collaboration and the power of community will be celebrated in Moree next month.
A vibrant creative milestone will be reached when Moree Arts Community Centre marks its second anniversary with a special exhibition and weekend of activities.
MACCI will host an opening night on Friday, November 14 from 6pm, followed by public viewing and workshops on Saturday-Sunday, November 15-16 from 10am until 2pm at 397 Gosport Street.
The curated display of contemporary ceramics brings together sculptural and functional works by local artists, demonstrating skill, creativity, and a shared love for clay.
Featured artists include Aunty Paula Duncan, Claus Bredow, Candice Paton, and Tibby Duncan, whose works have been recognised and been awarded prizes at Moree Arts Society Show.
Founded by Dr Moj Habibi, a Persian-Australian ceramicist and community arts facilitator, MACCI is now a vital part of Moree’s cultural life.
Dr Habibi said the exhibition is a celebration and a reflection of the community’s shared effort.
“Every piece in this exhibition carries the story of dedication and creativity,” Dr Habibi said.
“It’s wonderful to see how people in Moree have embraced the arts to connect, learn, and grow together.”
Dr Habibi said the event celebrates more than art.
“This exhibition highlights community resilience, cross-cultural exchange, and the growing recognition of regional creativity in New South Wales,” she said.
Entirely volunteer-run and not-for-profit, the centre provides art workshops, community classes, and shared creative spaces where people come together to learn and express themselves.
In just two years, MACCI has grown from a small local initiative into a thriving creative hub.
Many artists who began as beginners are now exhibiting their own works, demonstrating the centre’s role in nurturing confidence and artistic growth.
The opening night promises to be a lively celebration, featuring interactive art activities, artist talks, and creative demonstrations.
Visitors will experience the warmth and energy defining MACCI.
Across the weekend, additional hands-on workshops will include community participation, with full details to be announced on the centre’s Instagram page @moree_arts_community_centre.
“Visitors are warmly invited to attend the opening, meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, and take part in the creative workshops across the weekend,” Dr Habibi said.
