Moree Australia Day long weekend events and services

WITH the Australia Day weekend including a public holiday on Monday, Moree Plains Shire Council advises all residents of the following changes to services and facilities.

Everyone is invited to attend Australia Day celebrations on Sunday, January 26, at Jellicoe Park from 8am, where citizenship ceremonies will be conducted and Australia Day award recipients announced. There is a full schedule of events below.

WASTE SERVICES

Kerbside Garbage, Recycling and Organics Collection

Residents are advised kerbside garbage and recycling collection will operate as normal for the Australia Day Public Holiday on Monday, January 27.

Landfills

Moree Waste Management Facility on Monday January 27: 9am to 1pm

Mungindi: Closed

COMMUNITY SERVICES

Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre

The Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre will remain closed over the Australia Day long weekend period.

Mungindi Municipal Pool

The Mungindi pool will operate normal hours over the Australia Day long weekend period.

Bank Art Museum Moree

The Bank Art Museum Moree will be closed and reopen Tuesday, January 28 from 10am to 1pm.

Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre

The Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre will be closed Friday 24 January, 5pm and reopen Tuesday 28 January 2025 at 10am.

Gwydir Day Care and Pre-School

Gwydir Day Care and Preschool will be closed on Monday, January 27 and will reopen Tuesday, January 28.

Library Services

The Moree Community Library will open on Saturday, January 25 from 10am to 12pm and reopen Tuesday, January 28 at 10am.

Moree Regional Airport

Moree Regional Airport will operate as usual.

Ranger Services

The Moree Pound and Administration Services will be closed from 5pm Friday, January 24 and will reopen at 9am on Tuesday, January 28.

For emergencies, please contact after-hours service on 6757 3222. This service is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Tourism Moree

Tourism Moree will be open Monday, January 27 with reduced hours: 9am to 1pm.

Water Filling Station Tycannah Street Depot

Council’s depot, including the Water Filling Station, will be closed on Friday, January 24 and reopen Tuesday, January 28.

Moree Plains Shire Council can be contacted 24 hours a day on 6757 3222 for after-hour’s telephone service, including public holidays.
