Moree drag and burlesque night has Byamee buzzing

BYAMEE Support Services in Moree is planning a memorable night of fun and laughter – with just a splash of bawdiness – to raise much-needed funds for the well-known organisation.

The Drag and Burlesque Benefit Night, an outrageous cabaret-style show arranged and co-ordinated by Brisbane company Applause Entertainment, will be held at Moree Services Club on Saturday, November 23.

Byamee admin officer Gemma Brooker said money raised at the event will significantly enhance Byamee’s services and provide essential resources to help transform the lives of clients experiencing homelessness.

“We can create a more supportive and enriching environment, and ensure every individual has access to the care and opportunities they deserve,” Ms Brooker said.

“We recognise the urgent reality of homelessness, not just locally, but across Australia, where any one of us could face the threat of losing our home at any moment.

“It’s a call to action for us all to unite in addressing this critical issue and to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who need it most.”

Ms Brooker said senior co-ordinator Crystal Trotter, with more than seven years’ dedicated experience working with the homeless, envisaged the spectacular gala night.

“Crystal’s passion for this cause shines through in her impressive track record organising transformative events, including the impactful Youth Homelessness Expo,” Ms Brooker said.

“The gala night is set to be a remarkable evening that will inspire and strengthen our community to support those experiencing homelessness.”

Ms Trotter said the gala night promises to be an extraordinary, unforgettable evening.

“It will inspire and mobilise our community in supporting the homeless, where everyone has the right to be housed,” Ms Trotter said.

Byamee Support Services CEO, Tracie Lane said every human being deserves a place to call home.

“Homelessness is not just a lack of shelter; homelessness is a crisis of humanity,” Mrs Lane said.

“Every person deserves a place to call home and it is a profound vulnerability that calls for our compassion and commitment to create lasting solutions for those in need.”

Staff at Byamee earlier this year explored ways to fundraise and from those brainstorming sessions, the Drag and Burlesque benefit night was born.

The November 23 gala night starts at 6pm in the Moree Services Club auditorium with formal, black-tie dress code.

Finger food will be provided, there will be plenty of raffles, and music supplied by DJ Jaamez.

The burlesque drag show will take centre stage courtesy of Applause Entertainment.

Tickets are $100 per person, with group and table bookings available.
