Moree New England Advocacy Community Network meet-and-greet

NEW England Advocacy Community Network group in Moree, formed earlier this year for people in the district with spinal cord injury or neurological disabilities, will host a get-together at Moree Services Club on Saturday, September 6.

The meet-and-greet will be held in Albies Restaurant and Dining Room between 11am and 2pm.

New England Advocacy Community Networks offer a safe space and an opportunity for people with disability, their families, friends and carers to connect and support each other, discuss issues that matter to them and share their lived experiences.

New England Advocacy Community Network peer leader, Tanya Fitch, said the meet-and-greets are for people with disabilities to support one another.

“There are regular, casual get-togethers in the Moree region, which are either face-to-face or virtually via Microsoft Teams,” Tanya said.

“We welcome anyone in the New England area who wants to come along to meet and interact with others who have spinal cord injury or neurological disabilities.

“Our chats are informal and held in safe spaces, with casual and relaxed settings,” she said.

The New England Advocacy Community Network is a Spinal Cord Injuries Australia initiative that provides a safe, non-formal environment for people with spinal cord injuries or neurological conditions. It offers their families, friends and carers to connect and discuss community issues in the New England and north-west region of New South Wales.

The network offers a platform for peer support and focuses on sharing lived experiences and finding solutions to challenges faced by people with disabilities in rural areas. Meetings and events are designed to be casual and relaxed, and promote comfort and openness.
