Moree RFS prepares for annual Santa Run

MOREE Rural Fire Service is appealing to local business houses and community members to dig deep as the local emergency service provider prepares for the annual Santa Run on Saturday, December 21.

This year, RFS volunteer Darryl Brady is spearheading the efforts to gather donations for the Moree Santa Run, to be held simultaneously by RFS staff and volunteers across New South Wales.

“I will be calling in to business houses and supermarkets asking for donations, particularly lollies and sweets, so we can distribute them to kids around town,” Mr Brady said.

He stressed the importance of community support to make the event memorable for children and expressed gratitude to those who have been generous in previous years.

Mr Brady said the Moree RFS always get tremendous support for the annual Santa Run, a festive event that sees volunteers spread holiday cheer among children and families across the district.

“We will distribute lollies, sweets and small gifts to kids at parks and ovals around town and we’ll announce the exact locations prior to the day,” Mr Brady said

As the countdown to Christmas begins, preparations are in full swing, with the Moree brigade gearing up for the event and ensuring everything is in place.

“The success of the Santa Run relies heavily on the support and generosity of local businesses and community members, and Moree is renowned for its generosity,” Mr Brady said.

“For the kids, the Santa Run is a magical experience that brings the enchantment of Christmas to life and for the parents, it is a tradition they look forward to each year.”

For NSW RFS volunteers, the Santa Run is a way to connect with community members and bring smiles to the faces of young ones.

“It’s a great way to get our message out to the community and this year will be bigger and better than ever,” Mr Brady said.
