Moree Sunset Soiree sets serenely

MOREE’S big sky sunset lit the celebratory scene for the recent Moree on a Plate Sunset Soiree, held on the picturesque grounds of Moree Plains Museum – the former Lands Office on Frome Street.

Guests mingled and relaxed, and enjoyed the perspective of some of Moree’s most iconic Art Deco buildings punctuating the local streetscape.

In lieu of the annual Moree on a Plate Long Lunch, this year’s committee decided to go with a more laid-back event after the huge 20-year celebrations for May’s Moree on a Plate Food and Wine Festival.

Moree on a Plate committee president, Rebecca McMillan, said the committee was thrilled with the inaugural event, and the opportunity to offer something new to the community.

“We wanted to do something for the community and the Sunset Soiree was a great alternative – an easy, relaxed format from 4pm to 9pm, and we’ve heard there were plenty of party-goers who kicked on at the Chill Out Bar for cocktails and karaoke.”

Local band SAXappeal kept the entertainment vibrant, and Relish Catering ensured no-one went hungry.

Rebecca also thanked Brooker Trading Co for donating lucky door prizes, and Grove Juice, which generously donated juice for complimentary mimosas on arrival.

“It was a lovely evening to catch up with friends and enjoy the beautiful Moree sunset skyline before the rush of harvest, and the upcoming festive season,” Rebecca said.
