Santa Claus is coming to Moree!

WITH the help of Moree Rural Fire Service and local stores and supermarkets, Santa Claus has taken time out from his busy schedule to cruise around Moree on Saturday.

Volunteer Darryl Brady said the Moree RFS always get tremendous support for the annual Santa Run, a festive event that sees volunteers spread holiday cheer among children and families across the district.

“We will distribute lollies, sweets and small gifts to kids at parks and ovals around town,” Mr Brady said.

As the countdown to Christmas begins, preparations are in full swing, with the Moree brigade gearing up for the event and ensuring everything is in place.

“The success of the Santa Run relies heavily on the support and generosity of local businesses and community members, and Moree is renowned for its generosity,” Mr Brady said.

Santa will be in the shire on Saturday, December 21 at these key locations:

4pm: Gwydir Highway Park;

4.30pm: Jacaranda Park;

5pm: Moree PCYC;

5.30pm: Corner of Drummond and Boston Streets;

6pm: Webb Oval;

6.30pm: Apex Park; and

7pm: Lions Park, Greenbah Road.

With his sleigh and reindeer back home at the north pole preparing for an upcoming world tour, Santa will be chauffeured around the shire in a RFS fire truck.

“We’ll take Santa on a road trip around Moree in our fire truck to visit all of the local kids,” Mr Brady said.

“For the kids, the Santa Run is a magical experience that brings the enchantment of Christmas to life and for the parents, it is a tradition they look forward to each year.”

For NSW RFS volunteers, the Santa Run is a way to connect with community members and bring smiles to the faces of young ones.

“It’s a great way to get our message out to the community and this year will be bigger and better than ever,” Mr Brady said.
