FATHER and son singing duo Pieter and Nicky Kruger – Split Image – will wow the crowds at the Moree picnic races after-party on Saturday at Moree racecourse.
Split Image is backed by a full live band, bringing decades of musical experience and energy to every performance.
Dad Pieter, 60, and 35-year-old Nicky and their talented band members create a dynamic mix of experience, passion and stage presence.
Originally from South Africa and proudly calling Australia home since 2011, Split Image has never looked back, Nicky said.
Over the years, Pieter and Nicky have performed extensively across the globe, individually and together as a duo, and built a strong reputation for entertaining crowds of all sizes.
“We’re excited to be performing at the Moree picnic races, adding to a long list of picnic races, festivals, corporate events, and live shows we’ve played over the years,” Nicky said.
“Our music covers a wide variety of genres and eras – from 1960s favourites to modern-day classics, with a strong focus on country, rock and pop.”
Split Image has also released several singles in recent years and recorded albums in the past, as they continue growing their original music catalogue alongside live performances.
Split Image has released original music in recent years, including Whiskey Nights, Sweet Love of Mine, Justine, You Have It All, and Kiss Me Kiss Me Tonight.
The family connection will grow even further at Moree picnics – round one of bush racing’s Golden Triangle – with Nicky’s sister, Melissa, joining her father and brother on stage, making it a full, five-piece band performance.
Despite balancing full-time jobs Monday to Friday, Nicky is a PGA golf professional and Pieter works with Goondiwindi Regional Council, they continue to pursue their passion for music, juggling busy schedules while expanding to more festivals and travelling further across Australia.
Upcoming performances include shows in Toowoomba, the Brisbane Reds Festival, Roma, St George, and Talwood races.
The Queensland duo have built a strong reputation through live performances across regional and outback Queensland.
They have performed as part of the Saddle Up – The Outback Trail program, an initiative showcasing artists across rural and remote parts of Queensland.
The program helps bring live music to smaller communities that often miss out on regular touring acts.
Queensland Music Trails describes Split Image as an “electrifying father-and-son duo, whose performances cover music from the 1960s through to modern material”.
Pieter, Nicky and Melissa will this weekend make a rare visit over the border – they played at Talmoi picnic races two years ago – to perform at Moree racecourse Saturday night.
“Make sure to get your tickets, outfits and mates together, because this is going to be a show everyone won’t forget,” Nicky smiled.
“We look forward to a great time and are turning up with the energy and music that will keep everyone partying all night.”
Moree Picnic Race Club on Monday received 68 nominations for its six-race meeting on Saturday, including locally-owned geldings Shut Eye and Lesgo Don in the time-honoured Boolooroo Cup.
Shut Eye, with Ashley Boyd on top, will carry 69kg, while Lesgo Don, to be ridden by Ricky Blewitt, will carry 70kg.
Also among cup nominations is 2024 Guyra Cup winner Red Beryl (77kg), from the Jane Clement yard, and Lea Selby’s Zou Big Boy (73.5kg).
Acceptances and the all-important barrier draw for the meeting will be declared tomorrow at 9am.
