Subaru now ranked the most reliable car brand in the world

HILL Fitzsimmons Moree Subaru sales manager Dean Griffiths says there’s one irrefutable fact about the car brand that is now ranked No.1 in the world for reliability – a Subaru is very rarely seen behind a tow truck.

“It’s not often anyone will see that – if ever,” Mr Griffiths said.

He says Subaru’s reliability surpasses all other car manufacturers’ makes and models, as recognised by numerous consumer groups, including Consumer Reports.

The group’s auto-testing senior director, Jake Fisher, says while brand rankings can guide customers to the showroom, it is critical to also look at reliability for specific models before making a purchase decision.

“Even within high-ranking companies, there can be significant variation in reliability,” Mr Fisher said.

Consumer Reports says Subaru has ascended to the top of brand rankings, supplanting Lexus and Toyota, which have traded the two top spots for many years.

Of Subaru’s seven models, the report says, the Forester and Impreza have well-above-average reliability scores, while the Crosstrek, Legacy, Outback and Ascent rate above-average and average.

Mr Griffiths fully supports the findings, and says the reliability factor strengthens the features of all models.

“Subaru’s reliability is a great investment, due to the durability of quality components that are assembled in Japan, which has been favoured by outdoor enthusiasts and families,” Mr Griffiths said.

“Rugged off-road features such as X-mode, allows you to navigate through sand, mud or snow, taking the vehicle to another level for the outdoor adventurer.

“Subaru’s boxer engine uses a horizontally opposed engine design, which lowers the car’s centre of gravity and improves handling and fuel economy.

“It also allows a greater clearance between the road and engine, therefore having clearances between 213mm to 220mm at its lowest point. This rivals our direct competitors such as Toyota Kluger and Rav 4,” Mr Griffiths said.

He said the symmetrical all-wheel drive system provides better traction on all road surfaces.

”As mentioned, with the aid of X-mode you can enjoy anything from surf to snow – and everything in between – with peace of mind,” Mr Griffith said.

“Subaru’s trusted reliability means the vehicle will not only take you to your destination, but will get you home safely as well.”

Hill Fitzsimmons has been selling Subaru motor vehicles since 1975, and is Australia’s oldest, continual Subaru dealership.

The brand commits to the highest safety standards and has won numerous awards and accolades, including the 5-star Canstar award for the past two years.

“Subaru is also partnered with the Australian Road Safety Foundation,” Mr Griffiths said.

Safety features like the eyesight driver-assist helps reduce accidents and has the highest anti-collision scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Importantly, Subaru is aiming to have “no deaths” in their vehicles by 2030.

“There is new safety technology in the pipeline, and Subaru hopes to meet this target within the next five years,” Mr Griffiths said.

“Subarus are a great choice for those looking for a reliable, safe and affordable vehicle with an excellent build quality – as well as No. 1 ranking for reliability, of course.”

Subaru tackles driver distraction and fatigue with a driver monitoring system on select variants.

The innovative system constantly monitors the driver’s attention to help reduce the chance of accidents. The advanced DMS1 uses near infrared LEDs and a camera to recognise when the driver’s attention is waning or if they are showing signs of drowsiness.

An alert then warns the driver, reminding them to refocus on the road ahead.

Prices start at $33,990 drive-away, including government charges, and up to $62,000 for hybrid and petrol models.

“Electric versions range $75,000 to $83,000 drive-away, but are not really a sought-after vehicle in country areas,” Mr Griffiths said.

He said Subaru not only focused on reliability, fuel-efficiency, safety and pricing but are proud providers of after- sales service.

“At Hill Fitzsimmons, we have many repeat customers for this reason, with each having their own

positive relationship or experience with Subaru,” Mr Griffiths said.

“Subaru truly goes above the call of duty where customers are concerned, and will continue the commitment to safety and reliability in Australia as they have done for the last 50 years,” he said.
