Volunteers needed to help run Run the Plains

ORGANISERS of Moree’s newest signature event, Run the Plains, need help to run the plains.

Volunteers are being called to help out at the two-day running event on Friday-Saturday, September 26-27.

Run the Plains, organised jointly by Moree Little Athletics, Tourism Moree and Moree Run Club, is expected to draw more than 400 competitors across numerous events over diverse distances.

Co-organiser Kelly James said the working committee is calling on the Moree community for some extra helping hands.

“We’ll particularly need help with bib collection from 3pm on Friday and course marshals and finish line helpers from 7am on Saturday,” Mrs James said.

“Anyone who is not big on running or walking, but want to take part in Run the Plains, or participants who can squeeze in an extra good deed around race programs can contact Sara on 0448 519769.”

People can also register their interest in volunteering by visiting Run the Plains Moree 2025.

Run the Plains, named Community Event of the Year at the 2025 Australia Day awards ceremony earlier this year, will be held in Moree’s CBD on Friday evening, September 26 and Tourism Moree’s carpark and parklands on Saturday, September 27.

On-track facilities for participants will include water, electrolytes, energy gels, first aid and toilets. Runners will rejuvenate at the finish line with free access to contrast therapy and recovery nutrition with Alpha Omega Recovery’s mobile services.

“A range of food and drink vendors will also be on-site to fuel participants and spectators,” Mrs James said.
