Will Day ready to wow race-goers at Moree Christmas races

AUSSIE country music artist Will Day will entertain Christmas revellers after the last race is decided at the 2024 Moree Ag Supplies and Steel twilight Christmas races on Saturday.

Day, who recently released his new single, My Kinda Crowd, will find his kind of crowd at the night function.

Day is a regular at some of Australia’s most iconic country music events, including Tamworth Country Music Festival, Savannah in the Road, Gympie Muster, Texas Country Music Festival, Winton’s Way Out West and South Australia’s Curdimurka Outback Ball.

Day’s music has been described as gritty, grounded and heartfelt and he continues to make a huge impact on the country music scene around Australia.

This year has seen extensive touring, including a performance at the Deni Ute Muster and new releases in the lead-up to Day’s second album to be released in 2025, which includes the new country rock anthem Find Myself A Dirt Road.

“With a genuine gift of storytelling, combined with compelling vocals and the ability to connect with a crowd, Will Day is fast becoming one of Australia’s premier country artists that will undoubtedly be around for years to come,” his bio says.

Moree Race Club secretary Michelle Gobbert said transport arrangements have been organised for race-day.

“For people driving, please use Webb Avenue to access the parking inside the oval next to the racecourse. There will be signs and attendants directing drivers,” she said.

Drop-offs and pick-ups are encouraged at the main entrance and a courtesy bus will commence at midday.

The bus will collect patrons from most motels along Frome Street, as well as the Albert Motel, Econolodge Motel, caravan parks and the Royal Hotel and Golf Club.

Patrons needing bus transport can phone Melissa on 0427 542167 or Andrew on 0429 659172 and courtesy buses will run continuously until closing.

Patrons are also remined the drink ticket system will operate throughout the day and night.

There will be no cash bars. EFTPOS and ATM facilities will be available at the meeting and night function where there will be strictly no pass-outs after 8pm.

The meeting, the biggest social event on the local turf calendar, is sponsored by Moree Ag Supplies and Steel, C & H Organics, North West Events, Haddad Transport, Agri-Storage & Logistics, Grainspace, Elders Insurance, Boland Petroleum, McGregor Gourlay Ag Services, Coates Hire and Matilda and Louise.

Moree Race Club on Monday received 76 nominations for the six-race SKY 2 meeting, with entries extended until Tuesday.

Fields and race times will be finalised mid-morning, Thursday.
