Young Aggies’ open invitation to AGM Christmas party

A group of young aggies bowled Moree over when $100,000 was raised at the Gold Rush Ball in September.

The same group of young aggies now invite community members to be bowled over again at the Young Aggies AGM and Christmas party at Moree Services Club on November 29.

Committee president Sophie Venz said barefoot bowls and a barbecue dinner will feature.

“We extend an invitation to anyone who is interested in joining Young Aggies,” Sophie said.

Money raised at the 2024 Gold Rush Ball was allocated to seven community partners and four scholarship recipients.

“Our community partners’ goals and journeys are truly heartwarming,” Sophie said.

“I am so thankful there are groups out there like these, doing their part for the town and helping people and groups in need.”

Sophie encourages young aggies from across the region to join the committee as preparations for next year’s Gold Rush Ball begin.

Sophie said returning to Moree a few years ago after education and employment dragged her away from the district was seamless after meeting up with the team behind the Gold Rush Ball and making new friends.

She encourages anyone new to the Moree and district agricultural industry to come along to the Christmas party.

“Moving to a new town, or back to an old town in my case, is always daunting,” Sophie said.

“But the Moree community welcomed me with open arms and it reminded me about the things this town has to offer – clubs, culture and community.

“It also reminded me why this district is one of the best places in Australia to pursue a career in agriculture. Change can be hard and difficult at the best of times and that’s where an organisation like Young Aggies comes in and saves the day,” she smiled.
