Staff wanted: Maslina Bar and Grill now hiring

MASLINA Bar and Grill in Moree is currently closed for a well-earned Christmas-New Year break, and will reopen on Monday, January 13.

And owners Mick and Zelch Cikota want to start the New Year with more staff at the popular restaurant.

A menu with new options will also greet diners in the New Year, but Mick wants to employ more staff to assist head chef Matt Ross.

“We are planning a few changes in 2025 and will need extra kitchen staff and waitstaff, as well as cleaning staff for the motel,” Mick said.

“Ideally, we want to employ local people who know Moree and know the district.”

Mick said commercial kitchen and cooking experience is preferred, but definitely not essential.

He said a passion for food, drive for new ideas, and the ability to work under pressure are key requirements.

“Time management skills a major bonus,” Mick said.

“We are looking for someone to help Matt prep the food and help cook meals, with shifts generally starting at 2pm each day. Staff are required to get Food Safety Level 1 accreditation if not already held.

“Waitstaff hours may vary, and would suit anyone looking for a few hours a week, maybe as a second income,” he said.

Wait staff will need a responsible service of alcohol certificate, or be willing to obtain one.

These can be obtained locally or online.

Maslina Bar and Grill is part of the Cikota-owned Econo Lodge Spa Motor Inn, a Choice Hotels Group member, and cleaning staff are also required to service motel rooms.

“Cleaning staff hours are very flexible, and would suit a mum with kids at school,” Mick said.

“Hours are generally from 9am until about 2pm, so dropping the kids off to school and picking them up in the afternoon would work in well.

“Again, experience is preferred, but not essential, and we can train all new staff,” he said.

The fully licensed Maslina Bar and Grill, with a new menu heralding 2025, opens Monday to Saturday, from 5.30pm until 9pm.

“We will reopen on Monday, January 13, but in the meantime, we encourage anyone interested in employment opportunities at our restaurant, as well as the motel, to get in touch,” Mick said.
