Virtual Reality Art workshops coming to Narrabri Shire libraries

NARRABRI Shire libraries will host a series of Virtual Reality Art workshops this month, giving young people the opportunity to create immersive artworks using cutting-edge VR technology.

The two-hour workshops, suitable for ages 12 and over, will introduce participants to Tilt Brush, a virtual reality art tool that allows users to paint, sculpt and design in three-dimensional space. Participants will also receive a digital export of their artwork to share.

Mayor Darrell Tiemens said the program highlighted Council’s commitment to creative and innovative opportunities for young people.

“Our libraries continue to evolve as places of learning, creativity and connection,” Cr Tiemens said.

“These workshops offer young people a chance to explore new technology while expressing themselves creatively, right here in our local community.”

Library co-ordinator, Naomi Radford, said the program will appeal to beginners as well as experienced creatives.

“No prior experience is needed – just curiosity and imagination,” Ms Radford said.

“Virtual reality opens up exciting new ways to make art, and we’re pleased to be able to offer this opportunity during the school holidays.”

The program is supported by funding from the NSW Government through the Office of Youth.

Workshops will be held at Wee Waa Library on Thursday, January 22, and at Narrabri Library on Friday, January 23, with an additional VR taster session at Narrabri Library, also on January 23.

Bookings are essential and places are limited. For more information, contact Narrabri Shire Libraries.
