NSW Police have established Strike Force Calafell as investigations continue after three people were stabbed during a brawl at Walgett last year.
At about 2.20am on Sunday, September 22, 2024, police were called to the corner of Duff Street and Wareens Street, Walgett, following reports of a large brawl.
Officers attached to Central North Police District attended and found a large number of people fighting in the street.
Those involved fled upon police arrival.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated three people – two boys, aged 17 and a 19-year-old man – for multiple stab wounds before taking them to hospital for further treatment.
A crime scene was established, and investigation commenced under Strike Force Calafell.
As part of ongoing inquiries, police have released images of witnesses they are seeking to identify to assist with their inquiries.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information or footage to contact Walgett Police Station.

Meanwhile, a man has been charged with firearms, drug and domestic violence offences in Binnaway, a small village south of Coonabarabran.
At about 11am on Monday, January 13, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were called to a home on David Street, Binnaway, following reports of a domestic violence incident.
Police will allege in court that between 7am and 8am on that day, a 41-year-old man assaulted a woman – who was known to him – inside the David Street home.
Upon arrival at the residence, officers established a crime scene and conducted a search, at which time they allegedly located and seized:
Two .22 foldable revolver pistols; an unregistered .177 air rifle; replica military-styled gel blaster; BB gun; two slingshots; prohibited knife; cannabis plants and seeds; handcuffs; baton; and ammunition.
Officers arrested a 41-year-old man and took him to Coonabarabran Police Station, where he was charged with:
Two counts of possess unregistered firearm – pistol;
Two counts of possess unregistered firearm – not pistol/prohibited firearm;
Two counts of possess prohibited drug;
Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV);
Possess prohibited plant – small quantity;
Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit;
Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm;
Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority; and
Not keep firearm safely – pistol.
He appeared before Dubbo Local Court last Tuesday, where he was formally bail refused to face Coonabarabran Local Court on Friday, January 24.
