Weebolla Bulls ready to charge Narrabri

MOREE Weebolla Bulls advanced to a Central North first-grade grand-final showdown with Narrabri Blue Boars at Dangar Park next Saturday after easily accounting for Tamworth Pirates, 43-28, at the weekend.

The Bulls ran on knowing full well they needed to improve dramatically on the previous week’s performance when beaten 33-30 by Narrabri Blue Boars – the same team they’ll meet on grand-final day.

The Bulls scored in the second minute, with a try to James Bailey and conversion by Ben Williams, to hit the ground running with a 7-nil lead.

Gery Lefebvre, James Gall, Sela Ravuvu, Lachlan Elworthy and Mitch Adams also crossed for tries with Williams kicking five goals.

Club president David Watts said the Bulls launched and held momentum. However, Tamworth Pirates attacked the Moree line throughout the match.

“The scoreline changed a number of times before the final whistle blew and Moree had secured themselves a spot in the grand-final,” Watts said.

The Bulls now take on Narrabri Blue Boars at Dangar Park on Saturday in the season showdown.

Moree second-grade also chase grand-final glory against Tamworth Pirates.

“Irrespective what the results are this Saturday, I am super proud of this playing group,” Watts said.

“For our two men’s teams to finish minor premiers is a great result on its own, but it really means nothing unless they can win the big one.

“We have a great, young group of men in the club at the moment and the mateship is strong.

“I believe success builds a great club and that is something the Bulls have been successful with over the past number of years,” he said.

“To play in a grand-final is a privilege. It is something you have to earn, and I believe our men have earned their right to be there.

“A lot of rugby players can go through their entire career and not play in a grand-final, let alone win one. These are moments both our teams must cherish and give 100 per cent, and I believe they have what it takes to win at Narrabri on Saturday,” Watts said.
