MOREE Bulls second-grade remain at the top of the Central North ladder with five from five after last Saturday beating the Highlanders 48-17 at Inverell Rugby Park.
Moree coaches Tony O’Donnell and Jake Cutcliffe were pleased with Moree’s performance. They commended the team’s discipline, and the way they handled the conditions.
Moree defence was strong, with the forwards dominating the opposition.
The Bulls scored eight tries, with Nathan Goodworth and Tim Cassegrain crossing twice.
Tries also went to Seva Nadruku, Broden Clarke, Jackson Fernance and Carter McIlveen.
McIlveen and Aborosio Senimoli each landed two goals.
Bulls’ club president David Watts said Moree’s second-grade side are still on top of the competition ladder with one game remaining in the first half of the season.
Moree has won five from five and sit on 25 points, well clear of Barraba Rams (16) and Narrabri Blue Boars (14).
“Our Coaches said the boys must put in the hard yards on the training paddock over the next few weeks as they prepare to take on Narrabri on June 21,” Watts said.
Moree second-grade best were Jackson Fernance (3), Nathan Goodworth (2) and Joe Ticehurst (1).
Moree Bulls third-grade side were beaten 21-14 against a much bigger, and more experienced Highlanders’ side, made up of Inverell old boys.
Bulls’ coach Sam Webster said he was pleased to see the Moree boys match it against a much more experienced team.
Inverell scored after the siren sounded, to win 21-14.
Moree tries went to Charlie Wilks and Aborosio Senimoli, with veteran Nathan Porter converting both tries.
Moree’s best were Will Bailey (3), Ben Whibley (2), 1pt Aborosio Senimoli (1).
